Globally, about one in three people lack access to safe drinking water, resulting in millions of deaths from diseases associated with inadequate or contaminated water supply. In Kenya, more than half of the groundwater contains dangerously high levels of fluoride, drastically limiting the availability of clean and healthy drinking water. In Kenya’s cities and towns, only about 60% of people have access to safe drinking water, dropping to as low as 20% in informal settlements where half of the urban population lives.
k8ÓéÀÖ Water Solutions collaborated with USAID and the Little Sisters of Saint Francis to help a Nairobi-area community of 6,000 people gain access to safe, reliable potable water. k8ÓéÀÖ installed a new water treatment facility equipped with our reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and nanofiltration technologies. The facility can now produce about 44,000 gallons of purified water per day, serving a local hospital and school, refugee programs, and the broader community.
