Sparking Global Interest in STEM Careers
STEM job opportunities continue to outnumber qualified applicants, especially in the US, and historically under-represented populations continue to be under-represented in STEM fields. k8ÓéÀÖ employees from around the globe are taking action to inspire students and help them see what they can be.​
k8ÓéÀÖ scientists and engineers around the world volunteered time, talent and treasure to support local students from middle school through college in a variety of programs​
In Kingston, Ontario, Canada we continued to engage with  and their Bonds for Success virtual mentorship program. Through two sessions in 2021, over 20 new mentor/mentee pairings were made between k8ÓéÀÖ volunteers and college students interested in STEM careers. k8ÓéÀÖers shared their own career experience, learned student aspirations and helped them to create education and career development plans. ​
Our Shanghai Innovation Center hosted 35 students from . Over two days, students toured our Center and learned how our °Õ²â±¹±ð°ì® and °±ð±¹±ô²¹°ù® products contribute to a better world. By talking directly with k8ÓéÀÖ scientists and engineers, students could better appreciate the real-world applications of what they were reading in textbooks.   ​
In Mexico, we partnered with the nonprofit to promote education and raise awareness of STEM career opportunities among Mexican students. In the first few months of the partnership, k8ÓéÀÖ volunteers held 15 video conference sessions, reaching 600 high school and college students at 12 different schools in 8 states. Our ultimate goal is to hold 100 sessions per year and engage in ongoing mentoring activities.  ​
Employees from our Water Technology R&D Center in Tarragona, Spain, volunteered with the EXPERIMENTA Challenge, hosted by . Over 600 middle school students participated in science challenges and designed, experimented and presented chemistry case studies with help from k8ÓéÀÖers. 
In Wilmington, DE, USA, k8ÓéÀÖ supported an inaugural STEM talent pipeline conference hosted by the and k8ÓéÀÖ presented the Keynote session, hosted a virtual career booth, and led science demonstrations for K-12 students. More than 25 employee volunteers represented k8ÓéÀÖ at the event, interacting with 500 educators, industry professionals, and students from 30 middle and high schools and 18 universities.  ​
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, employees need flexible options for their nutrition and wellness programs. Globally, Integrated Health Services (IHS) provides well-being programs such as virtual or on-site health assessments, walking challenges, nutrition awareness events, and online resources.​
IT Cares is an ongoing commitment to communities and the environment that upcycles office technology and empowers individuals who otherwise face barriers to technology.​

In 2021, employees reached out to our global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) teams expressing desire to be better prepared in their journey to becoming better allies for inclusion.Â
